Construction Manager – Tank Farm Projects (Hanford Site)

Location: Richland, WA (Hanford Site)

Schedule: 4x10 Work Week (Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM)

Employment Type: Full-Time / Project Assignment

Security/Clearance: Ability to obtain required site access and complete site-specific training requirements

 

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support major infrastructure and capital improvement projects within the Tank Farm Projects organization at the Hanford Site. This position manages construction activities from initiation through closeout, coordinates stakeholders, oversees subcontractors, and ensures safe compliant execution.

The successful candidate will provide leadership for construction planning, contract execution, field oversight, risk identification, and project coordination while supporting complex projects within a Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear operations environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage small- to medium-scale Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), capital improvement, and facility upgrade projects from initiation through completion.
  • Oversee fixed-price and time-and-material construction contracts with multiple subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Environmental, Safety, Health & Quality (ESH&Q), and project management organizations.
  • Conduct routine field walkdowns and monitor contractor performance in the field.
  • Lead construction planning and pre-construction activities to support successful project execution.
  • Support constructability reviews, identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities before work begins.
  • Ensure site and facility conditions impacting construction activities are properly evaluated and incorporated into project planning.
  • Participate in technical proposal evaluations and contractor selection activities.
  • Support procurement activities including responding to bidder questions and reviewing RFP addenda.
  • Assist in resolving contract and performance issues throughout project execution.
  • Identify and communicate impacts to project scope, schedule, cost, and baseline commitments.
  • Provide independent judgment and technical leadership in resolving construction-related challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) principles, project procedures, and company policies.
  • May perform off-site inspections of electrical assemblies and equipment prior to site shipment

Required Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering or related field; 10+ years of relevant construction management experience; strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Department of Energy (DOE) projects
  • Nuclear facility construction experience
  • Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) installation experience
  • Knowledge of construction contracting, procurement, and subcontract administration
  • Experience supporting radiological or high-hazard work environments
  • Familiarity with constructability reviews and project risk management principles

Working Conditions

Routine field presence in industrial environments. Valid driver license required.
